Allah-Las | Sirenas

With Sirenas, Los Angeles quartet Allah-Las move further away from the hazy garage-pop of their early records and into a fully instrumental world of psychedelic exploration. Their sixth album was shaped by spontaneous experimentation, drawing inspiration from The Durutti Column, Popol Vuh’s Werner Herzog soundtracks, and the underwater worlds of Jacques Cousteau.

Recorded in Topanga, the music drifts through hypnotic guitar patterns, warm bass, percussion, flute, and subtle synthesizers, moving between psychedelic rock, ambient textures, and kosmische repetition. Rather than conventional songs, these pieces feel like slowly evolving environments—loose, intuitive, and often beautifully dreamlike.

Sirenas is perhaps Allah-Las at their most exploratory: an atmospheric, sun-bleached instrumental record where familiar Californian psychedelia dissolves into something stranger, deeper, and more meditative.
