Louis VI | Ecocide

This 4-track EP showcases the many talents of Louis VI. Dubbed “ECOCIDE” to reflect the state of things on the planet, serving us primary producer and artist, Louis also invites a wide cast of whose whose in the UK Hip-hop scene and beyond. The EP starts off with the drill anthem “Strange Human Emotion Called Fear” where Louis uses drill inspired visuals and heavy production to disguise a deeper message about what youth in the UK today have to be paranoid about: violence & racism, climate change & their future and corrupt government in a high energy track. Serendipity plays a huge role in “Little Jazz Number” as Louis flows easily over a jazz-y number featuring collaborators regular Emile Martinez and Moses Boyd. “Unplug” was written during the first wave of covid lockdowns, as Louis echoes the feelings of us all to unplug from our screens and be one with nature featuring Erykah Badu’s right hand man and singer Durand Bernarr as well as a verse from OthaSoul’s Dozer Carter & extra production from Bluestaeb. Lastly, “Tower Blocks Flammable” is an ode to the Grenfell Tower and all the lives lost to senseless violence all in the name of capitalistic gain featuring the limitless instrumentalist David Mrakpor.
