Deeply rooted in the musical and spiritual traditions of Los Angeles, Jimetta Rose brings together elements of gospel, spiritual jazz and contemporary soul on MettaSun. The singer, songwriter and community organiser has long explored music as a means of connection, healing and collective expression, drawing inspiration from the rich heritage of Black American music.
Her warm, expressive voice moves effortlessly between intimate, reflective moments and uplifting passages, surrounded by soulful harmonies, organic instrumentation and subtle rhythmic influences from hip-hop. There is a timeless quality to the music, recalling the communal spirit of classic spiritual jazz while remaining firmly connected to the present.
Rather than pursuing complexity for its own sake, MettaSun unfolds through its atmosphere, emotional sincerity and sense of togetherness. A deeply soulful and contemplative listening experience that reflects Rose’s commitment to music as a source of positivity and human connection.
