Music From Memory announces We Carry Eden, a new album by Son Of Chi – an immersive, two-part composition blending spoken word, field recordings, and drones with elements of dub, jazz, fourth world, and ambient music.
Son Of Chi is the latest project by Rotterdam-based multi-instrumentalist and producer Hanyo van Oosterom, known for founding the Dutch ambient collective CHI in the 1980s and his later work as Chi Factory. After the passing of CHI co-founder Jacobus Derwort in 2019, van Oosterom launched Son Of Chi to continue the legacy.
The album invites deep listening with its evolving textures and dub-influenced grooves. Omar Ka, a storyteller from the West African Fulani tradition, contributes vocals that weave a narrative through the layered soundscape.
Influenced by the Greek island of Patmos and Hopi tribal wisdom, We Carry Eden conveys a message of harmony with nature and ancient traditions. The album will be released digitally and on vinyl on May 16, 2025, with sleeve design by Michael Willis.
